How Multilingual Content Works
At its core, multilingual support in NodeForgeCMS means that every piece of content exists independently per language. An article, page, or column entry is not a single record with translation fields bolted on — it is a fully independent content record associated with a specific language. This architecture has important practical implications:- Publishing a Chinese version of a page does not automatically publish the English version
- Editing the French title of an article has no effect on the Spanish title
- You can have a page fully fleshed out in one language while it is still a draft in another
- Each language’s content has its own SEO metadata, slugs, and publication status
Supported Languages
NodeForgeCMS ships with built-in support for 21 languages, covering the major world languages used in global digital publishing — including Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), English, and major European and Asian languages. Language configuration is handled at the project level, and you can activate only the languages relevant to your audience, keeping the admin interface clean for teams that manage a subset of supported locales.Internationalized Routing
When multilingual support is enabled, NodeForgeCMS automatically structures your public URLs to reflect the active language. Each language gets its own URL namespace, making it unambiguous to both users and search engines which language version of a page they are viewing:| Language | URL Pattern | Example |
|---|---|---|
| English | /en/[column]/[slug] | /en/about/our-story |
| Chinese (Simplified) | /zh/[column]/[slug] | /zh/about/our-story |
| French | /fr/[column]/[slug] | /fr/about/notre-histoire |
| German | /de/[column]/[slug] | /de/about/unsere-geschichte |
Content Isolation in Practice
Content isolation means your editorial teams for different language markets can work independently without risk of interference. Consider a global news organization using NodeForgeCMS:- The English editorial team publishes a breaking news article
- The Chinese translation team works on their version at their own pace
- The German team decides not to cover the story at all
- The French team publishes a localized angle as a separate article
AI-Assisted Translation
NodeForgeCMS includes a built-in AI translation feature that dramatically reduces the manual effort of managing multilingual content. From any content editor in the admin panel, you can trigger an automatic translation of the current content into one or more target languages. The AI translation:- Pre-fills the target language content record with translated text, ready for editorial review
- Preserves formatting, headings, and structure during translation
- Handles the full content body, meta title, and meta description fields
- Supports translation between any two of the 21 supported languages, not just from a single source language
One Admin Interface, Every Market
The most significant operational advantage of NodeForgeCMS’s multilingual architecture over running multiple separate websites is unified administration. Instead of maintaining separate CMS installations for each market — each with its own users, plugins, media library, and update cycle — you manage everything from one place:- Unified media library — images and files are shared across languages; you upload once and reference everywhere
- Shared Column structure — your site’s navigation architecture is defined once and reflected across all language versions
- Single user management — grant editors access to specific languages without giving them access to content they shouldn’t touch
- Consolidated analytics and publishing workflows — see the status of every language version of every piece of content from one dashboard
